LEARNING PLATFORMS

St. Francis Areas Schools Adult Basic Education (ABE) is offering in-person classes and distance learning opportunities in the following areas: ESL, Citizenship, GED prep, college prep, workplace and academic skills.

Below is the schedule for drop-in, no appointment needed learning:

  • Mondays

    • Classes between 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center.

    • Classes between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the St. Francis High School, Room D115.

  • Tuesdays

    • Classes between 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center.

  • Wednesdays

    • Classes between 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center.

    • Classes between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the St. Francis High School, Room D115.

  • Thursdays

    • Classes between 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center.

Adult Basic Education provides adults with educational opportunities to improve English language skills (all levels), work on General Educational Development (GED) diploma preparation, brush up on workplace and academic skills, prepare for college and citizenship classes, and more. Classes are free and the class schedule is flexible.

How much does is cost to attend ABE classes?
It's free!

Do I need to pay for supplies?
No, all supplies are provided.

How long do I have to attend classes?
The time required varies depending on the student’s goals and academic background.

Is regular attendance required?
There are no attendance requirements.

Who is eligible to take GED classes?
Students who are 17 and older and not enrolled in high school can take our GED preparation classes; however, they need an age waiver to take the official GED test if they are under age 19.

When can I take the official GED test? 
Individuals must be at least 19 years of age and not currently enrolled in high school in order to take the GED. Individuals who are 17 or 18 must receive an age waiver from the State of Minnesota before testing. Individuals under the age of 17 are not eligible to take the GED.
