It is my pleasure to welcome our 7th and 8th graders back to school and a very special welcome to our new sixth graders. At St. Francis Middle School (SFMS), we strive to provide our students with middle school programming, which includes teaming, core academic offerings, exploratory/enrichment classes and extracurricular activities.
Open house is on Tuesday, August 30, 4:00-7:00 p.m. We have time allocated for our students with special education services to attend 3:00-4:00 p.m. if they prefer. As it does become fairly busy during open house, we ask that families try to follow the schedule below:
4:00-5:00 p.m. last names A-H
5:00-6:00 p.m. last names I-P
6:00-7:00 p.m. last names Q-Z
We understand that not all families will be able to attend during the designated times and those families are welcome to participate whenever they are available. Students will receive their schedules and locker assignments and meet their teachers. If students want to bring their school supplies, they can leave them in their lockers. Our nurses and counselors will also be available to answer questions and provide information.

6th Grade Students/Parents First Day of School Tuesday, September 6
The first day of school for our 6th grade students is Tuesday, September 6. Our 6th graders will be the only students in the middle school on this day, allowing staff to orient them to the building and focus our efforts on helping them have a successful first day of their middle school journey. Our WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) leaders (selected 8th grade students) and our staff design the day to include their regular schedule and assist them with lunches, lockers, locations—basically all things middle school! We know many of our 6th graders are nervous and we want to do everything we can to help their first day/year be a positive experience.
7th/8th Grade Students/Parents First Day of School Wednesday, September 7
The first day of school for our 7th/8th grade students is Wednesday, September 7 (our 6th graders will be in the building too). As our returning students do not need orientation to the middle school, we will run a regular schedule. Staff will be available to assist students with any questions or concerns.

Picture Day
Picture day will be Friday, September 23, with retakes on Friday, October 28.
